To those who are confused why SH keeps calling those guys “fake gods” because they are in “divine flame realm” and it’s not officially classified as deity realm yet. Although those who reach this stage can already call themselves a god or a deity as the prerequisite to being a deity is to have divine Dao flames burning. With 3000 Dao Flames, the first immortal energy strand will appear and the last stage is 10 000 Dao Flames where you should be able to create three immortal energy strands to become a complete/real deity.

Here are the realms between SH and the baddies:
SH - late stage (climax) of the Formation Gathering Realm. SH could have entered the next higher realm ages ago but he refused because he wanted to reach beyond the limit of this FG realm to ensure there’s absolutely no flaws.
-> Venerable Realm (those who are in this realm are usually called Supreme Venerable)
-> Divine Flame Realm (that’s where the baddies are at. However, depending on the number of divine flames one has lit, the power and strength could differ astronomically)
-> Deity Realm
-> at the subsequent higher realms: one cultivates the 3 strands of immortal energy to become Dao flowers. **if anyone of you watches Soul Land, you will see the parallels here where Tang San has reached the “3 flowers above his head” stage in his Tang Sect’s “Xuan Tian Gong”. This apparently is based on some Daoist cultivation concept.

Yup, it seems to be the case. The Chinese fans went gaga over his white/silver hair. Most love it and those who don’t are probably the novel fans because in the novel, his hair is always black and flying loosely like a devilish child. I’m fine with the hair but still trying to stomach his new barely-covering-anything costume. Not interested in seeing fake abs and I’d rather see some traditional Chinese robes like in Fanren.

oh man this episode was so confusing. First they have his "brother" practicing at an altar with columns. Then they have some other random guy doing some ritual that sucks the lifeforce out of the beasts at what looks to be the same altar. The dude is mad at people? Which people? Who is he even?

Then there are a couple of people from the upper realm that summon a Void Beast. Seems like they jump into the cauldron in the void beast.

The dude doing the sacrifice is then surprised that the Void Beast comes out of his ritual. Did he not expect something to happen from it?

Then it kind of looks like the dudes that attack the Shi kingdom aren't the same ones that jumped into the Void Beast.

Like I understand spoken Mandarin pretty well, but sometimes this donghua has scenes that just don't make much sense.

Here’s a brief summary of what happened:

Weak bad guys at the lower realm opens up the passage inviting the powerful bad guys in the upper realm to descend. The weak guy has no ideas who is coming down and yes he gets a nasty surprise. The descend requires sacrifices, so yes.. lots of “sucking the life force out of ppl” ritual.

That’s the main reason SH would take on those intruders at whatever cost because they have killed thousands of people from his kingdom just to descend. Likewise those baddies come to kill him because his notorious reputation has spread far and wide. As long as SH lives, they would have no easy time doing as they please and finding their treasures. Not everyone who has descended came to look for SH as they believe just a few of them would finish him off easily. If you watch the trailer some weeks back, it shows 7 ppl/beasts descended from the upper realm.
